A recent article by VOORTMANN highlights the use of modern proportional technology in pneumatic applications. Lebbing automation & drives GmbH is mentioned as an example from industrial practice.
Proportional technology is the system of continuously variable valve control and has been considered a challenge in pneumatics up to now. A solution is provided here by the valve blocks of VOORTMANN GmbH & Co. KG Steuerungstechnik, which rely on Ethernet-based PROFINET control. These can be implemented with little time and cost.

VOORTMANN recently also supported Lebbing automation & drives GmbH with a modernization of its proportional technology. The valve terminals now control various functions of a roll slitter for our customer. Thanks to the new solution, which replaces the old Interbus system, deviations in position and pressure accuracy have been reduced from up to 5% to just 0.5%. In addition, an increase in the nominal flow rate from 800 l/min to 1,400 l/min was recorded. Our customer thus benefits from a more productive machine that works more accurately, faster, and more powerfully than before.
The changes are also evident in the control cabinet: the valve terminals enable clearer wiring, which greatly simplifies troubleshooting and repairs. The PROFINET control system also offers improved analysis and diagnostic capabilities that can identify and report errors in real time.
The proportional technology by VOORTMANN shows how precise control processes can be implemented in modern machine concepts and what advantages this brings in terms of efficiency and process stability.
